The Role

CNM2 to join the nursing team on the Surgical role is responsible for the provision of quality service in line with standards of nursing practice. As a key member of the senior management team, the CNM2 will demonstrate managerial and leadership skills and facilitate effective communication with colleagues in the hospital. The position requires a strategic approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve organisational objectives.

The Role:

Leading and developing the nursing team and take an active part in the delivery of care, as appropriate.
Managing the Ward; taking responsibility for the safe delivery and co-ordination of nursing services for patients, ensuring effective, efficient and quality specialist nursing care service.
Promoting the delivery of a high standard of care to all patients.
Encourage evidence-based practice and assist in the dissemination and implementation of research findings.
Together with Hospital Management be involved in identifying opportunities for the development of services that will improve the care of patients.
Lead out on the requirements of the hospitals accreditation process.
Provide direct comprehensive specialist nursing care to patients attending the unit using evidence-based practice and adjusting resources to ensure continuity of care and to take an active part in the delivery of patient care.
Liaise with attending consultants concerning patient care and treatment and ensure that instructions are carried out.

The Person

Essential requirements for the ideal candidate:

Have at least five years recent relevant post-registration nursing experience (full-time or equivalent hours part-time) in an acute hospital setting and a minimum of three years nursing experience in nursing management
Registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI.
Have a least five years recent relevant post-registration nursing experience (full-time or equivalent hours part-time) in an acute hospital setting and a minimum of three year's experience in a nursing management role
A Healthcare Management qualification preferably at third level.
Well-developed leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Strong IT skills.
An up to date Advanced Cardiac Life Support course or be in pursuit of same
