Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Medical Day Services (Infusions)

Our client a hospital based in Dublin North is currently recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 Medical Day Services ( Infusions ).

The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the Medical Day Services, Infusion Clinics and Venesection clinics. Ensuring a patient focused, efficient and quality care service to patients. This will require active participation in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care delivery within a multidisciplinary environment.

The post holder will demonstrate an ability to interpret and promote evidence based practice within the field of Digestive Diseases, as this is an area of nursing which is rapidly changing. The CNM Medical Day Services will be responsible for the safe administration of targeted therapy for Digestive Disease and Neurology patient in Medical Day Services education assessment and management of treatment toxicity's.


Key Duties and Responsibilities
Administration
* Patients attending Medical Day Services often require complex multi-disciplinary care The CNM II role is pivotal in providing this nursing care.
* To manage referrals from the Consultants, allocating patients appointments with the support of the Medical Day Services administration team.
* To implement Consultants instructions re patient care. To communicate and delegate tasks to the Staff Nurses so that Consultants instructions are implemented.
* To manage patient flow and aims to reduce waits and delays ensuring an even allocation of patients to staff.
* To maintain good communication, to liaise effectively, with all departments within the Hospital, as well as relevant external organisations, to ensure the delivery of a quality service to the patients.
* To monitor and respond to staffing levels, according to patient dependency and activity of the ward. To ensure duty rostering and holiday arrangements are made in the best interest of patient care and fairness in conjunction with CNM III.
* To liaise with admin team and ensure accurate recording of all patients visits.
* To speedily withdraw damaged equipment for repair or replacement.

Quality:
* To participate in quality improvement measures, in line with, JCI
* To ensure Hospital policies and procedures are known, understood and adhered to by all staff.
* To prepare policies and pathways as required in Medical Day Services.
* Partake in Clinical Audits to ensure service delivery meets the expected standards
Management:
* Management of staff rostering system and ensuring adequate staff cover while managing annual leave.
* To conduct staff performance review and monitor staff competency.
* To act as a deputy for the CNM III in her absence.
* To conduct staff performance review
Clinical Focus:
* To provide nursing expertise to patients, their families and the hospital staff.
* Supervising assessment and documentation and management of patient's toxicity's developing a plan of care and follow up.
* Supervise the maintenance of confidential, accurate and complete patient records.
* Responsibility for ensuring that treatment is administered as planned and in accordance with best practice guidelines.
* To ensure Hospital policies and procedures and National guidelines are adhered to.
* Responsibility for the supervising, the safe administration of Infusions and subsequent patient monitoring.
* Management of phone enquiry's, documentation and follow up, and follow up and management of patients for admission.
* Oversee and participate in local audit including environmental, hand hygiene and nursing metrics and act on results and implement improvements as required.

Experience required:
* Must have a minimum of 5 years post registration experience, including a minimum of 2 years experience in the specialist area or similar environment.
