Job Title: Refractive Consultant Ophthalmologist

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)


The Refractive Ophthalmologist Consultant shall be responsible for the final decision on suitability for surgery. The Refractive Ophthalmologist Consultant works collaboratively with the organisation leaders of the service areas involved. He/she shall also have responsibilities regarding quality, safety and service of care provided and actively involved in performance improvement initiatives to improve care, treatment and services and mitigate the risk of harm for patients served. The Refractive Ophthalmologist Consultant will assist in providing support for regulatory and accreditation compliance as related to the quality and safety of care delivered.

To provide elective refractive, cataract and any sub-sequential or enhancement treatment required
Together with the other Ophthalmologists, to provide a service for Ophthalmology patients across all sites. This includes all aspects of treatment for the proper functioning of the department
Shared responsibility for providing emergency care. Responsible also for covering colleague's periods of annual leave and short-term sickness
Responsible for carrying out training duties as required and contributing to CPD and clinical governance initiatives where relative.
Work in conjunction with clinical and other professional colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the Clinics
To attend and support clinical meetings scheduled by Optimise Operations Management team and Clinical Advisor
To provide feedback to the policies, procedures and protocols for the clinical care provided in the designated areas of service to assure care is delivered in a safe and well-organised manner
Responsible for ensuring to adhere to company standards in line with Joint Commission International
Compliance with company policies and procedures where relevant
Discuss and confirm Clinical guidelines for optimise with the other Ophthalmologists and Clinical Advisor following company change request policy
Provide feedback and suggestions with the other Ophthalmologists and Clinical Advisor through Operations Management team on international and local guidelines by relevant bodies
Accepts feedback for audit results to ensure patient care meets the expected standards
Enhances collaboration between the milt-disciplinary team to promote teamwork and communication among the entire service team
Responsible for ensuring their continuous Medical registration and education requirements are met and up to date
Builds a culture of respect, trust and professionalism among medical staff providers which is represented by fairness, integrity and non-discrimination

Qualifications and Experience:

Relevant qualifications to perform services required
Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical
Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the speciality of
Ophthalmic surgery
Registered or willing to obtain registration with healthcare providers
Evidence of formal qualification in the field
Practical experience in a position relevant to the responsibilities for a minimum of 5 years
Highly skilled in written and verbal communication
