Job Description

A Major Medical Healthcare Company in Limerick wish to recruit a suitably qualified person for the following permanent post:

Applications are sought for a number of General Practitioners with experience in urgent care for a new facility in Limerick. The successful applicants will be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team that will include advanced nurse practitioners, nurses and allied health professionals. The new model of care is based on the principles of integrative medicine, where the patient and practitioner are partners in the healing process.

The Urgent Care Fellowship Programme will be arranged through the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. This will be fully funded by the VHI and the GP will be provided with time to complete the various requirements of the Fellowship. This will be a first of its kind of Fellowship in Ireland.

The Role

The key responsibilities will involve the investigation and management of patients requiring urgent care, homecare, and lifestyle health assessment/intervention, including chronic disease management support. The role will involve collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, where the GP will deliver care to patients requiring treatment of non-life-threatening injury and illness.

The service will be GP led with an onsite team rostered over 8am to 10.00pm 7 days per week with protected clinical and non-clinical duties across the 40-hour week.

The Person

Essential Requirements:

*On a relevant Specialist Register with the Irish Medical Council for General Practice, or eligible for same.
*Minimum 4 years post graduate experience in clinical practice, including general practice, community and emergency medicine.
*Keen interest in Urgent Care and Integrative Medicine.
*Flexibility to work across a 7-day roster.
*Experience in urgent care / minor trauma / A&E highly desirable.
*6 months experience with paediatric patients would be beneficial.
*Capable of interpreting x-rays and provide initial orthopaedic management for musculoskeletal injuries.
