This excellent eye clinic is located in South Dublin is hiring an Ophthalmic Technician and offers a wide range of refractive and intraocular procedures which include LASIK, LASEK, PRK, Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL), Crosslinking (CXL), Cataract and Custom Lens Replacement (CLR) procedures as well as General Ophthalmology. The clinic has state of the art technology for clinical support for general ophthalmology including glaucoma and medical retina. The clinic is very well supported by a large administrative, nursing and ophthalmic technician team.

Role Ophthalmic Technician:

As a busy refractive practice, the surgeons at the Eye Clinic require the support of a multidisciplinary team to clinically assess our refractive and general ophthalmology patients. Appointment types include preoperative evaluations, post operative appointments, general ophthalmology appointments and surgical appointments.
As an Ophthalmic Technician, duties would be divided into three subcategories;
Clinical duties and responsibilities
Working as part of the Nursing/ Technician team to perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing on patients as part of clinical work ups for consultations at the Clinic.

Theatre duties and responsibilities:

Management of patients on the day of surgery (consent discussion, counselling on postoperative instructions)

Administrative duties and responsibilities
Assist with collection and preparation of audit data and data for clinical research


Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree
Excellent communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Strong service ethic
An interest in Clinical Research would be an advantage


Working hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week. 8 hour shifts with 30-minute lunch break. Monday - Friday with 1-2 Saturdays per month. Saturdays are rotated and time in lieu is given for Saturdays worked. The Clinic is closed on Bank Holidays.
Annual leave: 22 days Annual Leave. 1 day of leave for birthday. Service days accrued for future leave years (applicable after completing 1 full calendar year of service)
Contract: Permanent (once probation of 6 months is completed)
Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience and qualifications
